German-born Ghanaian striker Ragnar Ache delivered an outstanding performance to help FC Koln secure a draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach in the German Bundesliga.
The 27-year-old attacker started and lasted 77 minutes, as his outfit settled for a 3-3 draw against Mönchengladbach in a highly competitive clash, held at the RheinEnergieSTADION on Saturday afternoon.
Ache played a pivotal role by registering his name on the scoresheet, contributing to the sides’ stalemate against Mönchengladbach.
Mönchengladbach stunned the home crowd just one minute into the game when Jens Castrop opened the scoring. However, Köln responded almost instantly, with Saïd El Mala equalizing in the 4th minute after being set up by Isak Bergmann Jóhannesson.
Momentum quickly swung in Köln’s favour, and in the 7th minute, Ache showcased his clinical instincts, finishing off an assist from Jakub KamiÅski to put the hosts ahead.
The visitors refused to back down, leveling the score in the 20th minute through Philipp Sander to ensure both sides went into the break on equal terms.
After halftime, Castrop struck again to restore the visitors lead, putting Köln under pressure. But the home side showed resilience, pushing forward in search of a result. Their persistence paid off late in the game when Eric Martel fired home an 84th-minute equalizer to seal a hard-fought draw.
The German-Ghanaian forward has been outstanding for Koln in the ongoing campaign, scoring six goals and providing four assists in 26 appearances in the German Bundesliga.
