Morocco is accelerating preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup with a major investment drive focused on tourism and infrastructure, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The country plans to invest more than â¬3.5 billion to add 25,000 new hotel rooms through around 700 projects, largely concentrated in key host cities. The expansion is aimed at meeting expected demand as matches are scheduled to be played across six venues in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Tangier, Agadir and Fez.
Morocco has already established itself as a leading tourism destination, attracting nearly 20 million visitors in 2025. Authorities anticipate record numbers during the World Cup period.
Alongside accommodation, significant resources have been committed to stadium development. The government has spent about 17 billion dirhams, roughly â¬1.6 billion, on upgrading existing venues and constructing the Hassan II Grand Stadium. With a projected capacity of 115,000, the stadium is central to Morocco’s bid to host the final.
The tournament will be co-hosted by Spain and Portugal, while Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay will stage the opening matches to mark the centenary of the World Cup.
