Newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has refused to make grand promises about Ghana's prospects at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, instead focusing on the immediate task at hand.
Speaking to reporters, the Portuguese tactician was asked about his target for the tournament. "There is nothing to promise. Our goal for now is to win the first game and secure three points against Panama," Queiroz said firmly.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. Their opening match is scheduled for June 17 against the Central American side, a game widely seen as crucial to any hopes of advancing to the knockout stage.
Queiroz, 73, has signed a four-month contract to lead the Black Stars, with his future potentially tied to the team's performance.
By keeping expectations grounded and focusing on one match at a time, the experienced coach is sending a clear message about discipline and realism. For now, all eyes are on June 17.
