Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has described his team’s defeat to Nations FC as unfortunate, insisting that they must bounce back immediately in their next Ghana Premier League fixture.
In the Week 30 fixture played at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Wednesday, only one goal separated the two teams, with the visitors returning to Abrankese with all three points.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Bashir Hayford congratulated Nations FC for their win, stating that they defended very well, especially in the second half.
“This has been a very tough match for us and it’s an unfortunate loss because both of us are fighting to avoid relegation. We had the advantage because we were playing home but they took their chance in the first half. Congratulations to them for the solid performance in the second half,” the experienced coach said.
Bashir Hayford in the post-match interview stressed the need to instantly bounce back from the defeat to ensure Heart of Lions escape relegation at the end of the season.
“We have to put it behind us because we have another match against Samartex on Sunday. I hope my players will not be demoralized after today’s defeat so that they can pick up their strength and play that Sunday match,” the coach added.
Lions currently sit 13th in the Ghana Premier League standings with 39 points. With just one point above the relegation zone, the team from Kpando must avoid a defeat in their last two games to guarantee their place in the league next season.
