Arthurlegacy Sports CEO Oliver Arthur has revealed ambitious plans to expand the Arthurlegacy Invitational Tournament following the successful conclusion of the 2026 edition in Accra.
Speaking after Liberty Academy were crowned champions, Arthur said the positive feedback from partners CAA Base had strengthened plans to grow the competition in the coming years.
“The most important thing is we’ve been able to impress our partners at CAA Base. The level of the players, their education level and also finally the organisation, so they’re very happy about it,” Arthur said.
According to the Arthurlegacy Sports chief, the involvement of CAA Base will help elevate the tournament and create greater opportunities for young footballers across Ghana.
“With them coming on board now it means that the tournament is going to grow bigger and bigger all the time,” he added.
Arthur also disclosed plans to expand the competition beyond Accra and eventually attract teams from other countries across the continent.
“Going forward, we want to do something across the nation, and possibly bring other neighbouring African countries into the tournament.”
The tournament, organised by Arthurlegacy Sports in partnership with CAA Base, brought together young football talents, scouts, football executives and international stakeholders over five days of competition and development activities.
Liberty Academy emerged champions after defeating EurAfrica on penalties following a 2-2 draw in the final at the SMAC Centre.
The event also featured educational sessions aimed at helping players, coaches and administrators better understand the legal, technical and business aspects of football.
Arthur believes the success of this year's competition has laid a strong foundation for the tournament to become one of the leading youth football events in the region.
