Black Stars defender Gideon Mensah has revealed that the team is adapting well to the new methods introduced by head coach Carlos Queiroz, despite the intensity of the sessions being unlike anything they have experienced before.
Speaking to 3Sports ahead of Ghana's friendly against Wales, Mensah explained that the Portuguese tactician has brought a fresh approach to training and team discipline, requiring the players to adjust quickly.
"We have a new coach who comes with a new form of training and everything. Something that we are not used to, and I think we are adapting very good," Mensah said.
The left-back acknowledged that the sessions have been intensive but insisted that such demands are necessary as Ghana prepare for a tough Group L campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
"The training session is very intensive. We are not really used to this, but then we are going to the World Cup, so that's what we need as well. We are hoping that everything goes well and then we continue like this," he added.
Mensah also touched on Queiroz's unique working style, noting that the coach's methods extend beyond the training pitch to how players conduct themselves in hotels and during downtime.
With the friendly against Wales on June 2 fast approaching, the Black Stars are putting in the work under Queiroz's guidance. For Mensah, the adaptation period is well underway, and the signs are encouraging.
