Zion Suzuki has expressed his delight after completing his move from Parma to Aston Villa, describing the transfer as the perfect opportunity to begin his Premier League career.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper also becomes the first Japanese men’s player to represent the club.
“I’m very excited and I’m very happy to be here to start my new journey,” Suzuki told VillaTV. He believes Villa’s ambition and regular pursuit of trophies made the club the right destination.
“I want to play at the highest level and that’s why I’ve decided to come here,” he added.
Suzuki arrives after gaining experience in Japan, Belgium and Serie A. He also started all four of Japan’s matches at this summer’s World Cup and impressed during his country’s 1-0 victory over England at Wembley in March.
The goalkeeper said joining Villa fulfils a personal dream. “My dream is to play in the Premier League, now it is time for me to play in the Premier League. I want to prove myself at this highest level.”
He also promised to adapt quickly, improve daily and give everything to his new club. “I want to make some history at this great club,” Suzuki said.
