Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Mohammed Camara has completed a move to Ethiopian club Mechal, joining the side as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with the Ghanaian giants.
The 26-year-old Guinean shot-stopper has signed a one-year deal with the Ethiopian outfit, who are coached by Wubetu Abate.
Camara brings considerable experience to his new club, having spent the last two seasons with Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League.
Camara joined Asante Kotoko in July 2024 on a two-year contract from Soar Academy. His contract with Asante Kotoko expired at the end of June 2026, making him a free agent. Camara was one of several key players whose deals were running out at the Kumasi-based club.
The move to Mechal represents a new chapter for the Guinean international, who has also represented his country at the national team level. The Ethiopian club is looking to strengthen their squad, and Camara's experience in the Ghanaian top flight is expected to be a valuable asset.
For Camara, the switch to Ethiopia offers an opportunity to secure regular playing time and continue his development in a different football environment.
Camara will now link up with his new teammates as Mechal prepare for the upcoming Ethiopian Premier League season. The Guinean goalkeeper will be hoping to make an immediate impact and establish himself as a key figure for his new club.
The move brings an end to Camara's two-year association with Asante Kotoko, where he helped the Porcupine Warriors compete in the Ghana Premier League.
