Nathan Opoku says Northampton Town manager’s belief in his ability to make an impact played a major role in his decision to join the club from Leicester City.
The Ghanaian forward has signed a three-year deal with Northampton after the League Two club agreed an undisclosed fee with Leicester for his services.
Opoku, who can operate across the forward line, says his discussions with the manager convinced him that Northampton was the right destination as he begins a new chapter in his career.
"I spoke to the manager here, he told me how he feels I can impact the team and I believe I am good fit for what he is trying to do here and that’s why I chose to come to Northampton."
The 25-year-old arrives with valuable experience of English football after spending last season on loan at Newport County.
He scored six goals in 16 starts for the Exiles and finished the campaign as the club’s leading scorer, giving Northampton an indication of what he can offer in the final third.
His versatility and pace are expected to provide another attacking option, while his previous experience in the English game should help him settle quickly.
The move is subject to work permit approval.
