Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante was left with mixed emotions after making his Premier League debut on the opening night of the new campaign.
Thomas-Asante became one of the few players to have played through all of England's football ranks after appearing on the field at the Emirates for Coventry as they battled champions Arsenal.
The Black Stars forward endured a disappointing night as Coventry were hammered 3-0 but it also marked a historic night for the Ghanaian international.
In a post on social media after the match, Thomas Asante wrote: "Of course not satisfied with Friday’s result, however these are the challenges we crave, and we will surely grow. Also extremely honoured to make my Premier League debut. Still by no means anywhere near the end goal, but eternally grateful for what the Lord has done. Glory to God always. Psalm 51:15."
In a very one-side game, the Gunners opened the scoring early in the match though German forward Kai Harvetz before Bukayo Saka netted a second few minutes later. Martin Odergaard completed victory with a third four minutes after the break.
Thomas-Asante and his Coventry teammates will now switch their attention to the EFL Cup game against Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday before their next Premier League match against Hull City next weekend.
