Stanley Menzo: Ibrahim Danlad has the experience to succeed at Kotoko

Asante Kotoko Director of Football Stanley Menzo has backed Ibrahim Danlad to make an impact after the goalkeeper returned to the club following a two-year spell in Ethiopia.

Menzo, a former goalkeeper himself, said Danlad’s experience, including his participation at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Ghana, made the decision to bring him back an easy one.

“I know he is still young in football terms but very experienced. He has been to the World Cup and in my career I also played as a goalkeeper, so I know what it takes to be one,” Menzo said.

“That makes it easy to settle on him. Moreover, he has trained very well with us, and we are all impressed with his performances.”

Menzo also believes Danlad’s previous experience at Kotoko will help him settle quickly into the squad.

“He knows the club, the environment and the expectations here, so we are happy to add him to the competitive squad we are building,” he added.

Danlad rejoined Kotoko after two seasons with Ethiopian Coffee SC, where he made more than 55 appearances and kept 28 clean sheets.

The 23-year-old originally joined Kotoko in 2016 and made his Premier League debut during the club’s 2021/22 title-winning campaign.
