Ghanaian winger Marcel Opoku has completed his summer transfer to Swedish Division One side Assyriska FF (Sodertalje), signing a one-year contract with an option to extend his stay with the club.
The 24-year-old attacker joins the Swedish outfit after his recent spell with Spanish fourth-tier side RCD Ricla, where he continued to develop his experience in European football.
Opoku is regarded as one of Ghana’s promising attacking talents and will now begin a new chapter of his career in Sweden as he looks to establish himself and make a strong impact at Assyriska.
The transfer was brokered by former Ghana international footballer and football scout Ibrahim Atiku, who played a key role in facilitating the move and helping the talented winger secure an opportunity in Swedish football.
Speaking during his signing and unveiling ceremony, Opoku outlined his strengths and the qualities he believes he will bring to his new club.
“I am a direct and explosive winger that can score goals and create goal-scoring opportunities for my teammates,” the 24-year-old said.
His ability to operate from wide positions, take on defenders and contribute both goals and assists is expected to make him an important attacking option for Assyriska.
The move to Sweden represents another significant step in Opoku’s career, having previously gained valuable experience in the Spanish lower divisions.
He will now be hoping to adapt quickly to his new surroundings and help Assyriska achieve its objectives during the upcoming campaign.
With a fresh challenge ahead, Opoku will be determined to use his time in Sweden to further develop his game, attract attention and continue his progression in European football.
