Alexander Djiku has lavished praise on Kojo Oppong Peprah's technical ability, singling out the young defender's composure and quality on the ball as key strengths that will serve him well at Fenerbahçe.
The experienced Ghanaian international, who spent time in Istanbul earlier in his career, spoke warmly about his compatriot following Peprah's move to the Süper Lig giants from OGC Nice.
"Of course, I know Kojo Peprah Oppong," Djiku said. "He's a good player. He had a really good season at Nice and was one of the team's best players. He's an athletic centre-back, and he's also very good with the ball."
It was that particular attribute – his ball-playing ability – that Djiku emphasised as a major asset in modern football, particularly for a club with Fenerbahçe's ambitions of dominating possession and building from the back.
The 22-year-old Peprah impressed during his time in Ligue 1, establishing himself as a reliable defensive presence while also showcasing the technical confidence to progress play from deep areas. Djiku believes that combination of athleticism and skill makes him an ideal fit for José Mourinho's setup.
"He's still young, so he has plenty of room to develop, and I'm sure he'll learn a lot at Fenerbahçe," Djiku added. "I think he's a very good signing for the club."
Djiku, who retains fond memories of his own spell in Turkey, sent a personal message to the Fenerbahçe faithful as he backed Peprah to succeed.
"I hope he succeeds. I have great memories of Fenerbahçe and Istanbul. Sending my love to the Fenerbahçe fans."
With modern centre-backs increasingly judged on their distribution and ability to play out under pressure, Peprah's comfort in possession could prove decisive in his adaptation to Turkish football. If he can replicate his Nice form, Fenerbahçe may have found a defender who offers both steel and silk at the back.
