Joseph Opoku scores in Swansea win over Derby County

Ghanaian winger Joseph Opoku made the perfect start as Swansea City beat Derby County 3-0 at Pride Park in the Championship.

He scored just two minutes in, finishing calmly after Eom Ji-Sung led a quick counterattack and slipped him through in space.

Opoku’s early strike set the tone for a confident away display. Swansea controlled the first half, and Ji-Sung doubled the lead on 44 minutes with a close-range finish after Derby failed to clear their lines.

The visitors kept their grip after the break, with Derby struggling to create clear chances. Opoku was forced off with an injury in the 24th minute, but Swansea still managed to stay on top and close out the game with authority.

Ronald Pereira added the third goal in stoppage time, curling a shot into the bottom left corner to cap a dominant team performance.

For Opoku, the goal was another encouraging moment in a strong start to life at Swansea. For the club, it was a statement win that underlined their sharpness and attacking threat early in the season.

Swansea will take on Watford in their next game on September 1st.
