WAFU B CAF Women's CLQ: Ampem Darkoa not taking anything for granted against Edo Queens - Priscilla Okyere

Ampem Darkoa Ladies captain Priscilla Okyere insists the Ghanaian champions are not taking anything for granted ahead of their WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League final against Edo Queens.

The two sides will meet again on Saturday at the August 4 Stadium in Ouagadougou, with Ampem Darkoa seeking to complete an unbeaten campaign and secure the region’s ticket to the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Ampem Darkoa defeated Edo Queens 2-1 in the group stage after coming from behind, but Okyere says that result will have no bearing on the final.

The Ghanaian champions have won all four matches in the competition, while Edo Queens responded to their group-stage defeat by thrashing USFA 5-1 in the semi-finals.

Okyere says Ampem Darkoa remain focused despite their previous victory over the Nigerian champions.

“I think that anyone can be in a press conference and anyone can speak determined on the person's ability. For me, I think that we prepared very well, and also coming here, expressing ourselves, means that we are ready and we always focus ahead,” she said.

“Beating them in the group stage doesn't mean that we are happy and we are relaxed. We are not relaxed yet because we are not there yet. Tomorrow is the final game and we are well prepared.”

With the trophy and Champions League qualification at stake, Okyere believes the team must remain focused and avoid complacency as they pursue a perfect finish to the tournament.
