Danish-Ghanaian striker Malik Pimpong was absent from Wednesday's training due to illness, casting uncertainty over whether he will be available for the club's upcoming Bundesliga away match against Mainz this weekend.
Frankfurt confirmed the 18-year-old was unavailable during its latest squad update, although the club did not provide a timeframe for his return.
It remains unclear whether Pimpong will recover in time to resume training later this week. His progress will be monitored closely, with Frankfurt unlikely to make a decision on his availability until his condition improves and he can safely return to group work.
The setback comes as the young striker continues to build his profile in German football. Pimpong began his development in FC Midtjylland’s academy and enjoyed an exceptional 2025-26 campaign, finishing as the U19 league’s leading scorer with 20 goals in 26 appearances.
