Black Maidens will stick to game plan against Togo, says Edna Quagraine

The Black Maidens will not abandon their playing philosophy when they face Togo in their third WAFU B Girls Tournament match on Monday, 21 September 2026, assistant coach Edna Quagraine says.

Ghana are preparing to meet a familiar opponent, having also played Togo during the qualifiers. Quagraine expects a difficult contest but is confident the team’s approach can deliver victory.

“We play our original and it's going to be the way we play. We are going to play according to our plan,” she said ahead of the game.

The assistant coach acknowledged the strength of the Togolese side while insisting Ghana would remain focused on executing its own strategy.

“This is not the first time we are playing Togo. We played them during our qualifiers. They are a tough opposition, but I think that we will put our strategy down and make sure that we become victorious,” Quagraine added.

The WAFU B Girls Tournament is also forming part of Ghana’s preparations for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. Quagraine said the competition had exposed areas that needed attention before the global tournament.

“It has opened our eyes. We have seen our faults. So I think that we will do a lot of corrections and then we are going to the World Cup properly,” she said.

The Black Maidens will aim to continue their strong run in the tournament when they take on Togo on Monday.
