The woes of one of the accused persons in the alleged murder of Mrs Josephine Asante seem far from over, as a charged accommodation agent he reportedly swindled confronted him outside the Tema District Court.
The accused, Richard Kwabena Kwakye, aka Kwabena Boateng and three others, are being held by the Cold Cases Unit (CCU) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters for the heinous crime.
The accommodation agent, Amos Sarkodie, aka Wayo, who had a hint of the accused being in the grips of the police on Tuesday April 18, 2023 literally laid ambush at the premises of the court.
At about 10:30 hours, Kwabena Boateng was seen together with another accused person in handcuffs and emerged from a service vehicle being escorted.
Wayo sprang from his hideout and after greeting the escorts confronted the accused who he alleged had put him in serious trouble.
According to Wayo, he had not set eyes on Kwabena Boateng since April 5, 2019 when both of them went to cash an NIB Bank cheque, with face value of GH¢15,000.00 meant for accommodation that the accused was renting, for which tenancy agreement the two of them appended their signatures.
He further said, for 48 months and 14 days, every effort that he made to locate Boateng proved futile, as he, the supposed landlord, vanished into thin air.
The worried accommodation agent added that sometime in March, 2019 a female staff of the GPHA introduced him to Boateng as an agent and later the same day, the accused contacted him that he had an apartment at Tema Community 11 for rent.
This was because GPHA offered him another accommodation at Community 5 and there was no need to continue to keep the one at Community 11.
Wayo, visibly worried, stated that he called on a client, Pastor Richard Oduro of the God’s Ambassador Church, Community 9, who was in need of accommodation.
The self-styled landlord then negotiated and arrived at GH¢20,000.00 for which the GH¢15,000.00 cheque was issued and handed to the accused in the office of the church, leaving a balance of GH¢500.00.
The following day, after endorsement of the agreement binding them as landlord and tenant at the GPHA Senior Staff Club House in Community, he could no longer be traced.
It was also detected that he resorted to illegal electricity connection resulting in a debt of GH¢11,000.00 to the power company.
