The five-member ad hoc committee chaired by Joe Ghartey Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado-Ketan Constituency, established to probe the bribery allegations levelled against some members of the Appointments Committee of Parliament will begin its work on Wednesday, February 15, to Friday February 17, 2017.
The public hearing will be held at the Speaker of Parliament Aaron Mike Ocquaye’s conference room.
The MP for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga accused the leadership of the Committee of taking GH¢3000 bribe for the approval of the nomination of Energy minister Boakye Agyarko.
In a statement issued by Mr Joe Ghartey, it said,“The Special Committee on allegations against the chairman and some members of the Appointments Committee is to start its first public hearing from Wednesday, February 15 – Friday, February 17, 2017′.
The Committee is expected to conclude its investigations in four weeks.
Both the Chairman of the committee Joe Osei-Owusu and chief whip Muntaka Mubarak whose names were mentioned in the bribery attempt have denied the allegations.
