… advancing the fastest growing master-planned new city
Appolonia City has officially commenced a major phase of infrastructure development following a landmark groundbreaking ceremony held in partnership with Core Construction Limited, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of Ghana’s fastest growing master-planned new city.
The ceremony, held on Friday, 6 February 2026 at the Appolonia City site, brought together senior government officials, local authorities, development partners, community representatives, and members of the media.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, who delivered the keynote address; The Member of Parliament for Kpone–Katamanso, Joseph Tettey; The Board Chairman of Appolonia City, Mr. Daniel Tetteh; Chairman, West Africa at Rendeavour, Mr. Yomi Ademola; and Director of Operations at Core Construction Limited, Mr. Kevin Lartey, among other stakeholders.
The event formally signaled Appolonia City’s transition from planning into accelerated, on-site execution, underscoring the strong development momentum currently underway across the city.
The infrastructure works will deliver approximately 25 kilometres of high-quality asphalt roads, incorporating pedestrian walkways, cycling paths, kerbs, lane markings, service and utility crossings, landscaping, and comprehensive stormwater drainage systems. The scope reflects an integrated, future-ready approach to infrastructure delivery—designed to enhance accessibility, mobility, safety, and long-term resilience across the city.

Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini commended the project as a model for infrastructure-led urban development in Ghana.“This groundbreaking is a clear demonstration of what disciplined planning, private-sector leadership, and strategic infrastructure investment can achieve.
Appolonia City represents the future of urban growth—where roads, utilities, and services are delivered ahead of demand to support economic activity, improve mobility, and enhance quality of life.”
Developed by Rendeavour, Appolonia City is a 2,325-acre fully master-planned urban development designed to address the challenges of unplanned urban growth in the Greater Accra Region. The city integrates residential neighbourhoods, commercial and business districts, a 200-acre light industrial park, social infrastructure, and recreational amenities within a single, well-governed urban environment.
To date, over US$250 million has been invested in critical infrastructure at Appolonia City, including a 75MVA primary substation, more than 50 kilometres of utility networks covering power, water, and telecommunications, and internal road networks. These investments have catalysed significant private-sector development, supported job creation, and reinforced.
Appolonia City’s role as a resilient, future-ready urban centre supporting Accra’s long-term expansion.
Speaking at the ceremony, Perminas Marisi, Rendeavour Ghana’s Country Head and Managing Director of Appolonia City, highlighted the strategic importance of the milestone.
“Today’s groundbreaking represents far more than the start of road construction. It reflects our deliberate, long-term commitment to infrastructure-led urban development. Roads are the arteries of any city, and this investment brings us closer to realising Appolonia City’s full potential as a model for planned growth in Ghana and the wider region”.
The project is being executed by Core Construction Limited, one of Ghana’s most established civil engineering and construction firms. Founded in 1995, Core Construction is a wholly Ghanaian-owned company has an extensive track record in delivering complex infrastructure projects nationwide and operates modern quarry facilities at Shai Hills, supporting consistent quality and timely delivery.
Kevin Lartey, Director of Operations at Core Construction Limited, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to quality and excellence.
“Core Construction is honoured to partner with Appolonia City on this transformative infrastructure programme. Our focus is on delivering durable, high-quality roads that meet the highest technical standards. This project aligns with our long-standing reputation for excellence, safety, and reliability, and we are committed to executing the works efficiently and responsibly.”
From a project delivery perspective, Morgan Oriahi, Rendeavour’s Project Director for West Africa, emphasised the importance of coordination, standards, and long-term impact.
“This project has been carefully planned to ensure that each phase of delivery supports the broader vision for Appolonia City. Our approach prioritises technical integrity, environmental responsibility, and seamless integration with existing infrastructure. These roads will not only serve today’s needs but will support growth for decades to come.”
The partnership between Appolonia City and Core Construction Limited represents a strategic collaboration grounded in shared values of quality, accountability, and sustainability. The roads being delivered will unlock access to land and homes, support commercial and industrial activity, improve mobility, and lay the foundation for future phases of development across the city.
As Ghana continues to urbanise, Appolonia City is positioning itself as a benchmark for planned, infrastructure-first city development in West Africa, demonstrating how credible partnerships and long-term investment can deliver inclusive growth, economic resilience, and improved quality of life.
The groundbreaking ceremony marks not just the start of construction, but the continued realisation of a clear and deliberate vision — a city built with purpose, discipline, and a commitment to future generations.
