FC Samartex head coach Christopher Ennin believes an early, decisive intervention from Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi proved pivotal in Friday’s Ghana Premier League clash, shifting momentum firmly toward the Phobians.
Hearts secured a 1-0 victory at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, a result that lifted them to second place on 28 points, level with leaders Aduana, who face Young Apostles on Sunday.
Ennin pointed to Agbasi’s reflex save inside the opening minutes as the moment that altered the course of the contest.
“It was a really fantastic save because that would have changed the game altogether. It was within two minutes when we got that opportunity. So I think it’s something that really affected us,” Ennin said after the match.
Samartex nearly took an early lead when Christian Agyenim Boateng capitalised on a defensive lapse by Abdul Karim, but his close-range effort struck Agbasi in the face, allowing Hearts to escape.
The home side responded almost immediately. Mawuli Wayo first fired over from a promising position before redeeming himself moments later.
The winger forced an error from Roland Grippman inside the box, regained possession and squared for Hamza Issah, who finished calmly to score the game’s only goal.
