The head coach of Sudan, James Kwesi Appiah, has indicated that his side is ready for their Round of 16 clash against Senegal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Ghanaian gaffer and his side will take on the former champions in a tough match scheduled to be played on Saturday, January 3.
Speaking ahead of the match, Kwesi Appiah emphasised that Sudan deserves to be in the Round of 16 stage of AFCON 2025, adding that his team is eyeing a deeper run into the tournament.
Although the coach acknowledges the quality of Senegal, he is confident they can overcome the Lions of Teranga to reach the quarter-final stage.
“Sudan deserves to go far in the AFCON, and our ultimate goal remains to chase for the AFCON title. We have respect for Senegal, they are a big footballing country in Africa, they are the former champions, but we are ready,” Kwesi Appiah said.
The Round 16 clash between Senegal and Sudan will kick off at 4 pm on Saturday at the Grand Stade de Tanger in Tangier.
