Chairman of the Asante Kotoko Interim Management Committee, Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah has offered advised to his players and technical team at large, urging them not to attack officiating officials irrespective of the outcome of results.
His comment stem from the alleged attack by Karim Zito’s led technical team on the referee, who handled their game against Bibiani Goldstars in matchday 19 of the Ghana Premier League campaign.
The Porcupine Warriors and Goldstars settled for a pulsating goalless draw last Saturday, a match that ended in frustration for the Porcupine Warriors.
Zito and his assistant Prince Owusu allegedly exhibited an unsporting behaviour towards match officials after denying them what they term as a clean goal
However, the IMC leader has moved to condemn the act, while urging the entire playing body not attack officials in any circumstances.
“I will plead with my players and technical team not to attack referees. I will also call on the Ghana FA to make articles in relation to referees’ performance available. The charge should not always be the club” he said.
Meanwhile, the Ghana FA Disciplinary Committee has charged Abdul Karim Zito and his assistant, Prince Yaw Owusu for misconduct in their game against Goldstars.
The draw has further dented Kotoko’s title ambitions, dropping the club to fourth on the league table and leaving them eight points adrift of leaders Medeama SC as the Premier League race intensifies.
