Ghanaian forward Emmanuel Gyasi has explained his decision to join Palermo as the club intensifies its push for promotion back to Serie A.
Palermo’s resurgence has gathered pace this season, with Gyasi emerging as an influential figure in their promotion bid. After a turbulent decade that saw the club collapse and restart from the amateur divisions, the Rosanero currently sit fourth in Serie B at the halfway stage, just five points off the top.
Born in Palermo in 1994, Gyasi returned to his hometown club on loan from Empoli, describing the move as a deeply personal decision.
“I was born in Palermo, and coming back here means a lot to me,” Gyasi said in an interview with Ratings “This club is an important part of my story.”
Despite missing over two months through injury, the Ghanaian has featured in recent victories as Palermo won five of their last seven matches. With the league’s best defence and third-best attack, Palermo remain firmly in the promotion mix as they chase a first Serie A return since 2017.
