Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has lavished praise on new signing Antoine Semenyo, declaring the Ghana forward has been "unbelievable" since his high-profile arrival at the Etihad Stadium earlier this month.
Semenyo, who joined City from AFC Bournemouth in a £65 million deal, continued his electric start by scoring the second goal in a 2-0 Premier League victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The strike marked his third goal in just four appearances across all competitions, bringing his total goal contributions to four, including one assist.
Speaking to the club's media after the match, Guardiola highlighted the immediate impact of his new forward. "Antoine came with incredible energy, and strikers are about numbers. Since he arrived, he has been unbelievable," the manager said.
Guardiola was particularly impressed with the quality of Semenyo's goal against Wolves, a controlled finish that sealed the three points.
"[It was an] incredible goal.
"It looks easy, but the control is perfect to pass the ball to the net," Guardiola noted. He also pointed out that Semenyo came close to adding another, hitting the crossbar from a Marc Guéhi pass in the second half.
The manager's effusive comments underscore a dream start for the 25-year-old, who has seamlessly integrated into City's attack and begun repaying the club's significant investment with decisive contributions.
For Ghanaian football, Semenyo's flourishing form on one of the world's biggest stages is a promising development as the national team builds towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
