Italian-Ghanaian striker Davis Mensah found the net but could not prevent Mantova from falling to a heavy 5â2 home defeat against Venezia in Serie B.
With the hosts trailing 4â1, Mensah pulled one back on 81 minutes, reacting sharply in the box to make it 4â2 and briefly spark hopes of an unlikely late comeback.
However, those hopes were extinguished in stoppage time when Konstantinos Chrysopoulos turned the ball into his own net to restore Venezia’s threeâgoal cushion.
Earlier, Venezia had taken full control through Andrea Adorante’s brace, Issa Doumbia’s composed finish and a clinical strike from Ecuadorian-Ghanaian forward John Yeboah, who also provided an assist in a standout performance. Mantova’s only other bright moment came just before the break, when Tommaso Marras halved the deficit to 2â1 with a well-taken goal.
Mensah’s effort at least continued a solid personal campaign; he has made 18 league appearances in the 2025/26 Serie B season, contributing 3 goals and 1 assist so far.
Mantova will look to respond quickly when they travel to face Pescara at the Stadio Adriatico â Giovanni Cornacchia, in another crucial league fixture.
