Dutch-Ghanaian forward Emanuel Poku delivered a decisive performance as Almere City FC earned a dramatic 4â3 away win over Jong AZ Alkmaar in a wild Eerste Divisie encounter at the AFAS Trainingscomplex.
Almere hit back after falling behind early, with Ferdy Druijf cancelling out Wassim Bouziane’s opener before Julian Rijkhoff made it 2â1 to the visitors midway through the first half.
Poku struck what proved to be the key goal six minutes after the restart, timing his run perfectly to finish from a Job Kalisvaart assist and stretch the lead to 3â1.
Though Yoel van den Ban pulled one back, Druijf restored the two-goal cushion at 4â2 and, despite a late reply from Bendeguz Kovacs, Almere held on in a breathless second half.
The lively attacker’s display capped another strong outing in a breakthrough 2025/26 campaign in the Eerste Divisie, where he has made 23 appearances, scoring 7 goals and providing 3 assists.
The victory continues Almere’s impressive scoring form and gives them momentum ahead of their next league fixture at home to Roda JC Kerkrade.
