Medeama coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed confidence in his squad's ability to fill the void left by star defender Kamaradini Mamudu, who recently completed a high-profile transfer to Sudanese champions Al Hilal.
While bidding an emotional farewell to the player, Tanko acknowledged the loss but pointed to the depth of his roster. "Kamaradini is a really fantastic guy, not only on the pitch but outside the pitch; he's also very disciplined," the coach said.
"It's very painful that we are going to miss him, but I think life must go on... Definitely, we are going to miss him, but I think we still have three right-backs that can also step on his feet."
Mamudu's departure is significant, given his remarkable contribution. The 23-year-old Ghana international was the highest-scoring defender in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season with eight goals and had already netted five times by matchday 20 of the current campaign. His performances helped propel Medeama to an eight-point lead at the top of the table as they chase a second league title.
Tanko extended his best wishes to the departing player, stating, "I wish him very well. I hope that he will go there and then like he did here." Mamudu has joined Al Hilal, a club currently leading the Rwandan Premier League, after relocating due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
With the title race entering a critical phase, Tanko's faith in his remaining defenders will be tested as Medeama aim to maintain their commanding lead and secure the championship without one of their most influential players.
