Hearts of Oak host Bechem United on Sunday at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, with the Phobians aiming to extend a strong run of form that has lifted them into fourth place on the Ghana Premier League table.
The Accra-based side have built their recent success on defensive solidity, conceding just seven goals all season, one of the best records in the league. That discipline at the back has kept Hearts competitive, although their home form has been mixed and could give Bechem United some encouragement ahead of the fixture.
Bechem United arrive in Legon sitting in the top half of the table, but their away record remains a major concern. The Hunters are yet to register a win on the road this season, a statistic that makes Sunday’s assignment particularly demanding despite their recent improvement in results.
Speaking ahead of the match, Hearts of Oak head coach Didi Dramani stressed the need for focus and preparation rather than dwelling on past results. He described Bechem United as a quality side whose league position does not fully reflect their strength, and called on his players to improve in key areas while consolidating their strengths. Dramani added that controlling key phases of the game would be essential if Hearts are to secure a positive outcome.
Recent meetings between the two sides suggest a closely contested encounter. Since April 2023, Hearts of Oak and Bechem United have faced each other six times, with Hearts winning three matches, Bechem two, and one ending in a draw. Their most recent clash, in October 2025, finished goalless. Hearts have scored six goals in those six meetings, compared to Bechem’s four.
Hearts head into the match on the back of a win over Eleven Wonders, while Bechem United also arrive with confidence after defeating Heart of Lions.
