Manchester City's in-form Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has been officially registered for the remainder of the UEFA Champions League season, receiving the green light to feature in the competition's knockout stages starting with the Round of 16.
Semenyo, a headline January signing from AFC Bournemouth, has been included in Pep Guardiola's updated List A squad submitted to UEFA. His registration, alongside fellow winter arrival Marc Guéhi, follows the deadline for clubs to add up to three new eligible players after the league phase.
The forward's inclusion comes after a scintillating start to his City career, where he has quickly become a key contributor. Guardiola has publicly praised his "unbelievable" energy and encouraged him to play with freedom, advice Semenyo has credited for his immediate impact.
Goalkeepers: James Trafford, Marcus Bettinelli, Gianluigi Donnarumma
Defenders: Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Aké, Marc Guéhi, Rayan Aït-Nouri, Josko Gvardiol, Abdukodir Khusanov
Midfielders: Tijjani Reijnders, Mateo KovaÄiÄ, Rayan Cherki, Jeremy Doku, Nico, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Savinho, Matheus Nunes, Phil Foden Forwards: Omar Marmoush, Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo
Max Alleyne, Rico Lewis, Kian Noble, Stephen Mfuni, Nico O'Reilly, Charlie Gray, Divine Mukasa, Tyrone Samba
Semenyo and Guéhi's registrations required two players from the original group stage squad to be omitted. Goalkeeper Stefan Ortega and winger Oscar Bobb, who both departed the club in the January transfer window for Nottingham Forest and Fulham, respectively, were removed.
For Semenyo, the registration marks the next step in a remarkable rise and provides Guardiola with another potent attacking option as Manchester City pursue European glory. The Black Stars striker will be available for selection when City face Galatasaray in the Round of 16.
