Kurt Okraku has underscored the significance of the Black Princesses’ upcoming FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa, describing the fixture as a defining moment in Ghana’s quest for another global appearance.
The Ghana Football Association president delivered the message during a visit to the team’s training session, where he urged the players to recognise the magnitude of Sunday’s contest and approach it with full determination.
He further reminded the players that success against South Africa would push them within touching distance of securing Ghana’s eighth consecutive appearance at the tournament in Poland, stressing that such consistency reflects the country’s strong pedigree in women’s youth football.
“[The visit] also tells all of us and all of you how important this game means to Ghana. We know that the Princesses are a very good team. This we know.”
The Princesses progressed to this stage after defeating Tunisia 4-0 on aggregate, recording identical 2-0 victories in both legs.
Ghana will host the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, February 8, before travelling for the return fixture.
