German-Ghanaian winger âAnsgar Knauff has long since established himself as an important figure at Eintracht Frankfurt, even if he is not always in the starting XI.
The 24-year-old has become the team’s go-to superâsub, regularly changing games when he comes off the bench.
In the recent match against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Knauff once again underlined his importance. Shortly after coming on, he spotted hesitation in the defence, sprinted at 34.9 km/h and finished coolly to score his third goal as a substitute this season, a quality that has proved vital for Frankfurt in tight contests.
Sporting director Markus Krösche was full of praise: “Ansgar is extremely valuable to us. He showed that again against Gladbach. He used his speed to chase down attacks and has the necessary composure in front of goal. That's what makes him so special.”
Across the Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB-Pokal, Knauff has been involved in ten goals in 1,717 minutes, showing a more ruthless streak in front of goal than last season.
Under coach Albert Riera he brings relentless energy whether starting or coming on, pushing the internal competition and embodying tempo, mentality and work rate.
Four years after joining and with a contract until 2028, Knauff is now seen as a key part of Frankfurt’s core, a difference-maker who can decide games, especially from the bench, while still pushing for more starts.
