Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang Badu is urging patience and support for the Black Stars technical team ahead of the 2026 World Cup tournament.
The West African powerhouse are gearing up for their fifth World Cup appearances after securing one of Africa’s nine automatic slots.
Ahead of the global showpiece, the Ghana Football Association has resolved to bolster the technical team last week with five experienced professionals.
French coach Alain Ravera and Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren joins the Black Stars as assistant coaches. To boost scouting and analysis, Spanish coach Jose Daniel Martinez Alfonso has been added to the team.
Besides, Carlos Lozano Romero returns as the physiotherapist, having previously worked with the Black Stars during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with British-born Ghanaian performance coach Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi, completing the lists.
However, the former Ghana midfielder has called on Ghanaians not to criticize the technical team with few months to the tournament, while urging support and patience for the team.
“The Ghana FA knows the nature of the meetings they held with the coaches and management, as well as the kind of reinforcement needed in the technical team. If they have decided to strengthen the technical team, we have to support them. With few months left to the World Cup, this is not the time to criticize the expansion. As Ghanaians, we need to be patient and back the team.” he said.
The global tournament, set to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will feature an expanded field of 48 nations, with Ghana securing one of Africa’s nine automatic slots.
The West African giants are drawn in Group L alongside European powerhouse England national football team, 2018 finalists Croatia national football team, and Panama national football team.
