Ghanaian midfielder Taufik Seidu delivered a commanding midfield performance as Atlético Madrid U-19 edged Maccabi Haifa U-19 on penalties to reach the UEFA Youth League quarter-finals.
Operating as the heartbeat of Atleti’s double pivot, Seidu dictated the tempo with his passing and pressing before being withdrawn on 66 minutes after an industrious shift. He made two defensive contributions, had 94% passing accuracy, one shot off target, 40 touches, three passes into the final third, 100% successful dribbles, 100% accurate long balls, and two interceptions. He was rated 7.3 by Fotmob.
Atlético struck early through Jorge Rajado, who finished a slick move after fine work from Sergio Vinatea down the right. Maccabi Haifa grew into the game after the break and were rewarded when Yinon Feingsicht levelled on 70 minutes to force a tense finale.
With the match ending 1â1 in regulation, Atleti held their nerve in the shootout, converting all five spot-kicks as Rajado sealed a 5â3 victory.
Seidu’s display continued a strong UEFA Youth League campaign in which he has made 4 appearances in the 2025/26 season.
Atlético Madrid U-19 will face CF Burgos U-19 in the División de Honor Juvenil.
