Bibiani Gold Stars' deputy communications and administrative manager Joseph Oti Manu has laid down the challenge to his players ahead of Sunday's massive clash with Hearts of Oak, making it clear that home dominance alone will not be enough to secure a second straight league title.
Speaking exclusively to Citi Sports, Oti Manu acknowledged his side's formidable record at Dun's Park but stressed that consistency across all fronts will determine their championship fate.
"We are the best club in the Premier League in home matches, but we should do well if we want to win the league," he said.
Gold Stars currently sit second in the standings, just three points behind leaders Medeama, and will host third-placed Hearts of Oak on Sunday in a fixture that could reshape the title race. The defending champions know that victory is essential to keep pressure on the summit.
The administrator pointed to the team's crucial 2-1 away win over Kpando Heart of Lions as evidence that Gold Stars are finding form at the right time.
"It was very crucial. It was very difficult to win an away match."
Oti Manu also credited Swiss head coach Fritz Schmid for the team's psychological readiness since his arrival two months ago.
"Fritz Schmid has done refresher training courses with the players. So psychologically, the team was up to the task to win that match. We are really ready to welcome Hearts of Oak on Sunday."
With the top three separated by just three points, Sunday's encounter at Dun's Park carries enormous weight. For Gold Stars, the message is simple: home advantage is a weapon, but only if they use it wisely.
