Berekum Chelsea defender Michael Awuah Mensah insists his outfit will do everything possible to escape relegation at the end of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign.
The former league champions have endured a difficult campaign and currently find themselves battling to stay in the top flight. After 25 matches, Berekum Chelsea sit in the relegation zone with 28 points, occupying 17th position on the league table. Their struggles throughout the season have left them with a tough task in the remaining fixtures as they fight to preserve their Premier League status.
Despite their league difficulties, the club has enjoyed a positive run in the Ghana FA Cup, where they have progressed to the quarterfinal stage. The Blues are set to face Nations FC in a crucial clash on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, with a place in the semifinals at stake.
Speaking ahead of the important fixture, Awuah Mensah, who previously played for Accra Hearts of Oak, expressed optimism that the team can turn their season around and avoid dropping out of the Ghanaian top flight.
“I will plead with our fans to exercise patience and pray for us during these difficult times,” he said. “We will do everything possible to avoid relegation at the end of the season.”
The experienced defender is expected to play a key role for Berekum Chelsea as they prepare for their FA Cup encounter against Nations FC. His leadership and defensive solidity could prove crucial as the team looks to secure victory and book a place in the semifinals while also rebuilding confidence for the remainder of their league campaign.
With the season approaching its decisive stage, Berekum Chelsea will be hoping to rediscover their form and produce the performances needed to climb out of the relegation zone and maintain their place in Ghana’s top-flight football.
