Dreams FC advanced to the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup after defeating Heart of Lions 4-2 on penalties following a dramatic quarter-final clash on Sunday afternoon at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Heart of Lions had taken the lead in the 32nd minute through Seedorf Asante, putting the Kpando-based side in a strong position as the match progressed.
However, Dreams FC found a late equaliser deep into stoppage time when Seidu Suraj struck in the 92nd minute. The goal, which came from a well-rehearsed set-piece routine, brought the Believers back into the contest and forced the match into extra time.
Neither side managed to find a winner during extra time, sending the game to a penalty shootout.
Dreams FC held their nerve from the spot to secure a 4-2 victory, sealing their place in the semi-finals of the competition.
The Believers will now await the winner of the quarter-final between Attram De Visser Academy and Medeama SC to determine their semi-final opponent.
