Ghanaian forward Abdul-Aziz Yakubu was on the scoresheet, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Qingdao West Coast from a defeat against Chengdu Rongcheng FC in the Chinese Super League on Friday.
The former Rio Ave star started and played full throttle of the match, as his outfit succumbed to a humiliating 5-1 away defeat at the Wuliangye Sports Center Stadium.
Despite the loss, the enterprising Ghanaian attacker emerged as one of the standout performers for the visitors.
Chengdu Rongcheng opened the scoring through Wellington Silva after just seven minutes into the match before Egor Sorokin doubled the lead for the host, as they went to the halftime break with the advantage.
In the dyeing embers of the match, the host scored three goals to secure a resounding victory over their opponent in the week 4 clash.
Brazil international Felipe scored to extend the lead for the host in the 82nd-minute before adding the fourth goal in the 85th-minute mark.
Deep into stoppage time, Felipe bagged his third goal of the match to seal victory for Chengdu Rongcheng FC.
However, the Ghanaian attacker pulled one back for Qingdao West Coast in stoppage time but it was not enough for the side, who fell short to their opponent.
The 27-year-old forward, who joined the Chinese outfit in February 2026 has racked up four matches, scoring one goal and providing an assist.
