Ghana will discover their opponents for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers when the draw is held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) begins preparations for the road to the next continental showpiece.
The Black Stars will be seeking redemption after missing out on the previous edition of the tournament, a rare setback in their history and the first time in over two decades that they failed to qualify, while also going through the campaign without a single qualifying win.
CAF has confirmed that the qualification series will run from September 2026 to March 2027, setting up a tightly packed schedule leading into the finals.
The tournament itself will be staged from June 19 to July 17, 2027, across three East African nations.
Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda will jointly host the expanded competition, which will feature 48 teams for the first time.
The teams will be divided into 12 groups of four, with the top two from each group securing automatic qualification for the finals.
For Ghana, the draw represents the starting point of a crucial rebuilding phase as they aim to return to the continent’s biggest stage after their disappointing absence.
The Black Stars are expected to be among the seeded teams for the draw, but will need a strong qualifying campaign to re-establish their status among Africa’s elite.
Attention will now turn to May 19, when the path to redemption officially begins.
