Heart of Lions find themselves in a difficult position after a good start to the campaign fizzled out into a battle for survival, and now host top four chasing FC Samartex on Sunday at the Kpando Stadium.
FC Samartex were on a three-game winning streak before their defeat to Bibiani GoldStars in midweek, making them one of the most in-form sides in the second half of the season.
While both have different objectives, it is Lions who desperately need a win to avoid a return to the Division One League. In their last five matches, they have won only one, losing two and drawing two.
Meanwhile, Samartex have collected nine out of 15 points in the same run.
The two sides have met five times in the Ghana Premier League with Heart of Lions edging the former champions, having won three.
Heart of Lions will rely on Liberian forward Chauncey Freeman and experienced centre-back Ebenezer Abban at this crucial moment of the stage while Samartex will count on Mohammed Mankuyeli and captain Kofi Agbesimah.
