Kurt Okraku charges Black Starlets to stay focused ahead of 2026 U-17 AFCON campaign

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has urged the Black Starlets to remain disciplined and focused as they prepare for the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Ghana will compete in Group D of the tournament, where they will face Algeria, Senegal and South Africa in what is expected to be a highly competitive pool.

Speaking to the team before their departure to North Africa, Okraku commended the technical staff for their preparation work and encouraged the players to trust the process and maintain unity.

“The technical team has done its part, and I trust their guidance. Listen to them, stay disciplined, and play for each other. Success will follow if you remain focused and united," he said.

The Black Starlets head into the tournament on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat to Mali in a preparatory friendly on Saturday, a result that offered valuable lessons ahead of the competition.

Ghana will kick off their Group D campaign on May 14, with hopes of making a strong impression on the continental stage.
