Black Starlets head coach Prosper Ogum has singled out Eric Adu Gyamfi’s spectacular long-range effort as a defining moment in Ghana’s 2-2 draw with Algeria at the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026.
The youngster doubled Ghana’s lead with a remarkable volley after spotting the Algerian goalkeeper off his line, a goal that briefly underlined the Starlets’ dominance.
Ogum described the strike as a “very beautiful goal,” praising the intelligence and technical awareness behind the execution.
"This is a goal that is scored by genuine people who have vision on the field of play. If you look at the way he received the ball, he had already seen the goalkeeper off his line and the technical execution was just fantastic, just superb. Everything about the technique and execution was spot on.
"So if you realise, just as he kicked the ball, he started running towards the sideline. He knew everything was correct about the execution.
"So it’s a beautiful goal and as a young boy scoring a goal of such calibre, I think it’s good for his image, it’s good for his confidence and I think this will propel him to look for more goals for the team, to help the team qualify from the group and move on.”
Ghana, however, were unable to protect their early advantage as Algeria fought back to secure a draw.
Despite the disappointment, Ogum suggested moments of individual brilliance like Gyamfi’s strike will remain key positives as the Black Starlets prepare for their next Group D fixture against Senegal.
