'One of the best I ever played with' â?? Asamoah Gyan hails Omar AbdulRahman

Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has joined the chorus of praise for UAE legend Omar AbdulRahman, describing the playmaker as one of the finest talents he has ever shared a pitch with.

Gyan's tribute came in response to a social media post marvelling at AbdulRahman's ability, with the user asking, "Who the hell is this guy?"

The former Black Stars striker, who played alongside AbdulRahman at Al-Ain, responded simply but emphatically: "One of the best players I ever played with. What a talent."

Omar AbdulRahman, widely known as "Amoory", was the heartbeat of the UAE national team and a standout performer in the Arabian Gulf League for over a decade. His vision, close control, and ability to unlock defences made him one of Asia's most feared playmakers.

Gyan and AbdulRahman formed a devastating partnership at Al-Ain between 2011 and 2012. The Ghanaian striker's power and pace combined with AbdulRahman's creative genius to devastating effect, helping the club reach the AFC Champions League final in 2016.

Gyan's praise carries significant weight. As Ghana's all-time leading scorer with 51 goals, the former Sunderland and Rennes striker played alongside world-class talents throughout his career, including the likes of Kevin-Prince Boateng, Michael Essien, and Sulley Muntari.

His choice to single out AbdulRahman as one of the very best speaks volumes about the UAE maestro's quality.

While AbdulRahman's career was hampered by a devastating ACL injury in 2018 that prevented him from reaching even greater heights, his legacy remains secure.
