Ghana forward Mohammed Fuseini maintained his fine early-season form on Saturday, providing an assist as Royale Union Saint-Gilloise thrashed Westerlo 5-1 away from home in their Belgian Pro League opener.
The 24-year-old, who scored four goals in pre-season, now has two assists in three competitive appearances this campaign.
Union Saint-Gilloise fell behind early when Norman Bassette scored for the hosts but rallied with an emphatic response. Although RTBF's match report did not specify whether Fuseini started the game or came off the bench, it confirmed the Ghanaian registered an assist during the dominant display.
The result marks a strong start to the league campaign for Union SG, who have already won the Belgian Super Cup this season and are competing in the Champions League qualifiers.
Fuseini has quickly put a recent traumatic incident behind him. Last month, the former Sturm Graz forward was attacked and robbed in Brussels by a group of armed men who stole his Rolex watch, wallet, and two iPhones. He was hospitalised for checks but sustained only minor injuries and has since returned to full training.
His return to form and fitness is a significant boost for both club and country, as he looks to build on a promising start to the 2026/27 season.
