The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has officially concluded the government's World Cup ticket support scheme, confirming that a total of 2,922 tickets were distributed to Ghanaian supporters for the Black Stars' three group-stage matches.
In a statement issued on Monday, June 29, the Ministry revealed that 948 tickets were allocated for the match against Panama, 1,000 for the England clash, and 974 for the Croatia fixture. The tickets were not for commercial sale but formed part of a coordinated national support programme for selected fans, supporter groups, sponsors, stakeholders, and members of the diaspora.
Distribution was coordinated through Ghana's missions in Canada and the United States, with the missions compiling lists after consultations with established Ghanaian associations and community groups. Tickets were issued electronically through FIFA's mobile ticketing system to approved recipients.
The Ministry acknowledged that demand far exceeded the limited supply, leaving many supporters unable to secure tickets. "We fully understand the disappointment of supporters who could not be accommodated within the limited allocation," the statement read.
With Ghana having secured qualification for the Round of 32, where they face Group K winners Colombia at Kansas City Stadium on Saturday, July 4, the ministry made it clear that there is currently no government-supported ticket arrangement for any subsequent stage of the competition. Fans who wish to attend any further Black Stars matches have been advised to procure their tickets directly through FIFA's official ticketing platform or through accredited and authorised ticketing agencies.
The ministry also confirmed that a full list of beneficiaries will be published at a later date, once the appropriate publication format is agreed upon. It expressed appreciation to Ghana's missions, recognised associations, supporter groups, and stakeholders for their support in coordinating the process.
The statement concluded by encouraging all Ghanaians and supporters to continue backing the Black Stars with unity, discipline, and national pride as the team progresses in the tournament.
