Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie Daara has argued that the country must be prepared to invest significantly in world-class coaches if the Black Stars are to compete consistently with the world's leading football nations.
His comments come amid uncertainty over the future of Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, whose long-term stay has been questioned after the national team’s exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking to Citi Sports, Sannie Daara suggested Ghana's ambitions on the international stage must be matched by a willingness to spend on the best technical brains.
“â¦.if we want to be among the big boys, we should be able to spend money. We should be able to bring the big brains if we want to be among the top teams in rooms. I’m sure because of this reason we will be unable to keep him [Carlos Queiroz] for the long term."
Sannie Daara had earlier expressed doubts that Ghana could continue to afford Queiroz, pointing to the coach's reported salary and the cost of maintaining his technical staff.
While acknowledging the financial challenge, he argued that sustained success at the highest level requires significant investment.
His remarks add to the growing debate over the Black Stars' future direction following their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
At the tournament, Ghana’s Black Stars were eliminated at the Round of 32 stage after a narrow defeat to Colombia.
Citizens have since expressed their displeasure, demanding a change in leadership to ensure better performances from the Black Stars.
