FC Samartex 1996 have announced the appointment of Nana Kweku Agyemang as the club's new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The former league champions confirmed the appointment as they continue preparations for the upcoming campaign. Agyemang replaces Christopher Ennin, who left the club following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
Agyemang joins the Timber Club after an impressive spell with fellow Ghana Premier League side Vision FC, where he established himself as one of the league's highly regarded young tacticians. He earned praise for his tactical intelligence, commitment to player development, and ability to transform the fortunes of his team.
His biggest achievement came last season when he masterminded Vision FC's dramatic resurgence. After inheriting a side struggling in the lower half of the table, Agyemang guided the club to safety, securing their Premier League status with a series of disciplined and resilient performances.
Samartex will be hoping the experienced coach can replicate that success as they seek to return to the upper reaches of the Ghana Premier League. His appointment underlines the club's determination to build a competitive squad capable of challenging for honours in the new campaign.
Renowned for his structured tactical philosophy and emphasis on discipline, teamwork, and player improvement, Agyemang is expected to introduce a fresh approach during pre-season. His early arrival will also allow him sufficient time to evaluate the current squad, strengthen key areas through recruitment, and implement his playing philosophy before competitive action begins.
The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to kick off between September 4 and 7, with Samartex aiming to make a strong start under their new manager. The campaign will conclude on the weekend of May 28–31, 2027, as clubs across the country intensify preparations for another highly competitive season.
