Asante Kotoko and midfielder Prince Badu mutually part ways

Asante Kotoko and midfielder Prince Badu have mutually parted ways, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm, as the Porcupine Warriors continue their squad restructuring ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 26-year-old central midfielder, who joined Kotoko from Nations FC in January 2026 on a contract running until 2028, was identified as surplus to requirements by head coach Eric Tinkler and the club's technical team .

Badu's departure was anticipated following reports that the club planned to release him alongside several other players to reshape the squad. His exit is part of the first phase of Kotoko's ongoing overhaul as the club aims to bounce back from a disappointing campaign.

The club has already made several new signings during this transfer window, including Ivorian centre-back Koffi Marius Ange Bini, as they look to strengthen key areas.

Badu had been expected to add steel and positional discipline in central areas when he arrived, but the move did not work out as planned. He now becomes a free agent and will be looking for a new club ahead of the upcoming season.
