Swedru All Blacks secured their first victory of the Ghana Premier League season after edging debutants Debibi United 1-0 on Sunday, with John Andoh scoring the decisive goal.
Andoh struck in the 41st minute, finding the breakthrough in a closely contested encounter at the end of the first half. His effort proved enough to separate the two sides as the Black Magicians held on after the interval to claim all three points.
The victory provides a timely response for All Blacks, who began their campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Basake Holy on the opening day last weekend. Determined to make amends in their second outing, the Swedru-based side produced a disciplined performance to secure their first points of the campaign.
The result marked the first defeat of Debibi United in the Ghanaian top flight. The newly promoted side had made an encouraging start to life in the Premier League, holding Asante Kotoko to a 2-2 draw at home in their opening fixture last weekend.
Despite their efforts to find a way back into Sunday's contest, Debibi United were unable to breach the All Blacks defence after Andoh's first-half strike.
The result sees Swedru All Blacks move off the mark with three points, while Debibi United will look to regroup and return to winning ways in their next fixture.
