The future is bright - Asamoah Gyan backs Black Princesses after U-20 Women's World Cup exit

Ghana football ambassador Asamoah Gyan has backed the Black Princesses to build on their experience at the 2026 U-20 Women's World Cup despite their early elimination from the tournament.

Ghana's hopes of reaching the knockout stage ended after they suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat by France in their final Group C match in Poland on Saturday.

The Black Princesses began their campaign with a 3-0 defeat by Ecuador before responding with a 3-0 victory over South Korea in their second group game.

The loss to France, however, left Ghana with three points from three matches and resulted in another group-stage exit.

Despite the disappointing outcome, Gyan believes the players have a bright future and urged them to remain focused on their development.

"There are more opportunities. I know some of you will be asking yourselves, 'Where do we go from here? What are we going to do?' But I can assure you that nobody knows tomorrow," Gyan told the players.

"It will be ending day by day. So, just have faith in yourself. Keep on doing your training. Keep your faith high.

"I'm sure the future is bright because of the way you've performed from day one till now. Nobody can say anything bad, but we didn't get the result we wanted."

Gyan also encouraged the players to use the experience gained from the tournament as motivation to return stronger.

"We are out, but we are not done. From here, we think about ourselves. We think about how we are going to come back stronger," he added.

The former Ghana captain's message comes as the Black Princesses begin to look beyond their World Cup disappointment, with several members of the squad expected to progress into senior international football.
